(Source: Wikipedia) Lieutenant Eriksen was a fighter pilot in 332 (N) Squadron during World War II . He received his flying training from Little Norway in Canada , after fleeing from Norway to Scotland , via Ålesund on 5 November 1940 , at the age of just 17. He managed to do this by lying that he was 18 years old. [1] He shot down nine enemy aircraft and damaged three. With more than five aircraft shot down, he qualified for the designation of flying ace . He himself was shot down in his Spitfire on 2 May 1943 by Hauptmann Dietrich Wickop of Jagdgeschwader 1 , Woensdrecht off the coast of the Netherlands , and was held as a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft III near the town of Żagań in Poland until the liberation in 1945. Wickop himself had to make an emergency landing with his Focke-Wulf Fw 190 after the duel with Eriksen. |

He became Norwegian champion in slalom in 1947 and 1948. He participated in the 1948 Winter Olympics for Norway in St. Moritz , finishing 20th in the downhill and 20th in the alpine combined .
In 1954, Eriksen made his film acting debut, playing a ski instructor in the comedy Troll i ord by Jon Lennart Mjøen and the same year as a journalist in Kasserer Jensen by Nils R. Müller . In the film Slalom under the sky (directed by Edith Carlmar 1957 ), he plays a pilot on an F-84 Thunderjet .
After the war, Eriksen ransacked his own sports shop and opened the clothing store "Bentestova" in Oslo.
He was the son of the gymnastMarius Eriksen Sr. , brother of the alpine skier Stein Eriksen , son-in-law of Bjart Ording and father of Beate Eriksen . The so-called Marius sweater is named after him.

For his war efforts, Eriksen was highly decorated. He received Norway's highest decoration, the War Cross with Swords . [2] He was also awarded the St. Olav Medal with Oak Branch [2] , the War Medal , the Participant Medal , and Haakon VII's 70th Anniversary Medal . He was also awarded the British Distinguished Flying Medal , and the American Silver Star .
